B. Brian Blair stops in to talk with Scott about his tag team match (along with George South) against Ricky Morton and Bushwhacker Luke Dec. 7 in Clayton, NC. He discusses his history with the WWE, his political leanings, the real reasons the Killer Bees never won the WWE Tag Team Championship, and much more.

Then Matt Houston joins Scott to recap Wrestlecade, discuss his medical issues keeping him out of the ring, and the Top Five Pizza Toppings. The spirited argument that ensues is something to behold.

killbillies

Scott visited the CWF Mid Atlantic Sportatorium this week and discussed qrestling, training, and moonshine with the Killbillies. “Barefoot” Bobby O’Neal joined Arik Andrews and Evan Banks for six-man tag action with their old trainer Shawn Christian and the new tag team of Smith and Weston, and the antics of the region’s most popular tag team drew Scott’s interest. Manager/Commentator Nick D stopped in to recite some Shakespeare, and Scott and Houston blathered on like usual. Have a listen!

HoustonAttemptsSuicide

Scott is a little giddy this week, as the Manaconda has returned from a hospital stay necessitated by an abdominal disorder that frankly frightened the living bejesus out of him, Matt’s family, friends, and Rob McBride (who gets this week’s special producer credit for posting the above photo, where Matt attempted an Arabian Press against doctor’s orders. To say this created some drama at Manaconda Manor would be understating things).

After pleasantries and a rant from Scott we haven’t seen since last Thanksgiving, Scott and Matt discuss their five favorite supercards. They did a draft, so they included TEN supercard series AND an honorable mention each. Fans of WrestleRock and SuperClash will be elated.

Scott and Matt will return next week for a regular program, hopefully with an actual non-feline guest. Email your thoughts and well wishes for Mr. Houston at podcast@thisweekinwrestling.net. You can also say hello to him on Facebook His fan site (where you can buy exclusive Manaconda gear)is http://Manaconda-mafia.net. You can follow Matt on twitter @ManacondaMatt, and Scott is still tweeting @scotteiland.

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion “The Hurricane” Shane Helms joins Scott and Matt to talk about his upcoming OMEGA Championship Wrestling tournament match against “King” Shane Williams, the future of OMEGA, CW Anderson’s superkick, and much more in an often-hilarious half hour conversation. Matt also discusses the sort-of-controversy (call it a kerfuffle) that he started with a statement he made on social media, and he and Scott discuss whether there are too many wrestling promoters in North Carolina.

Don’t miss OMEGA’s return to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for Chapel Thrill October 12. Details here.

Later, Scott and Brad Stutts talk with WWE Encyclopedia author Brad Shields about a series of events discussing the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. He also discusses his work with Acclaim Entertainment and the WWE itself.

Matt Houston in a familiar position vs. Rob McBride (photo courtesy of This Week in Wrestling) Taken Nov 24, 2012

We have a Facebook page! Go here and like it!

In just 48 hours, the North Carolina Wrestling Association and the Autism Society of North Carolina will team up to present A Headlock on Autism, featuring a star-studded wrestling card at the Clayton Fitness Center in Clayton NC (just east of Raleigh). In the main event of that evening, wrestling history will be made, as twelve-year old actress Addy Miller will be donning wrestling boots and stepping between the ropes to team up with Hurricane Shane Helms and Rock n Roll Ricky Morton against the Mid Atlantic Outlaws and one of their mentors, C.W. Anderson.

In today’s show, Scott and Matt interview CW about the event and his career as a trainer and wrestler, both in ECW and elsewhere. We talk about training, how to tell the difference between a good school and a bad school, and a lot of old ECW stories.

Be sure to follow CW Anderson on his twitter page and on Facebook.

Also bid on the live auction! You have less than two days, don’t wait! All proceeds go to the Autism Society of North Carolina.

A rundown of the card (which may change, slightly)

1. “Handsome” Jimi Love vs Thunderfoot #3
2. “Mr. #1” George South (c) vs NWA/WCW Legend “Wildfire” Tommy Rich for the EWA Championship (Legends Match)
3. Adam Page vs Justin Flash
4. Daniel Messina & Corey Edsel (c) vs Zane & Dave Dawson for the NCWA Tag Team Championship
5. Charlie Dreamer (c) vs Joey Silvia for the NCWA Championship
6. “The Mid-Atlantic Outlaws” Louis Moore & Matt Houston along with CW Anderson vs “Rock N Roll” Ricky Morton, “Hurricane” Shane Helms, & Addy Miller (Walking Dead)

Louis Moore will be wrestling a twelve-year-old girl on December 8 when the NCWA presents A Headlock on Autism at Clayton Fitness in Clayton, NC.

Read that sentence again. The former AIWF World Champion will be WRESTLING A TWELVE YEAR OLD GIRL.

Why would Louis Moore want to wrestle a girl? The 2012 Ivan Koloff Tournament last February holds the answer. In the main event of that annual card, Jimi Love and Jerry “The King” Lawler teamed up to face Moore and his mentor, Mr. #1 George South in a match that featured two long-term hated rivals in Love and Moore, plus two legends in “the King” and South who have battled each other for years. That see-saw matchup ended when twelve-year old Addy Miller (the very same Addy Miller who starred in an episode of “The Walking Dead”) interfered in the match, clotheslined a weary Louis Moore and set him up for Jerry Lawler’s legendary second-rope fist drop and the win.

An enraged Moore later demanded that young Addy face him in the ring, in a six-person tag match. Moore, Matt Houston, and a mystery partner later revealed to be ECW legend C.W. Anderson would face Miller and her teammates, “Hurricane” Shane Helms and “Rock ‘n’ Roll” Ricky Morton. The contract has been signed, and on paper it looks like a mismatch.

The “Hurricane,” like Morton fresh off a victory at Wrestlecade, is admittedly still not 100% after suffering severe leg injuries in a motorcycle accident last year, and while Ricky Morton is certainly a formidable foe, he is also on the wrong side of 55 years old. Throw in a twelve year old kid with no experience and you have a team that will be at a disadvantage against Moore, PPW Heavyweight Champion Houston, and the venerable powerhouse C.W. Anderson. The vision of young Miller facing the business end of a C.W. Anderson spinebuster is a terrifying thing to behold.

Ultimately, this match feels like a three-on-two handicap match.

In other action, “Wildfire” Tommy Rich makes his return to North Carolina to face George South for South’s EWA Heavyweight Championship. Rich is best known for his long feud with Jerry Lawler in the USWA in the late 1980s, and it will be interesting to see him wrestle today; Does he still have the old, ahem, fire? Can the curmudgeon of the region, George South, show him that he’s the better legend? Time will tell.

Jimi Love will return to Clayton for the first time since February to take on the mysterious Thunderfoot #3 in singles action. Love emerged from a forced retirement (due to stipulation) in September to garner victories over luminaries like Shaun Murphy and narrow losses to his Pure Pro Nemesis Houston, and faces Thunderfoot #3 in an effort to get back on the winning track. As for Thunderfoot #3, I’d like to meet Thunderfoots 1 or 2.

Also- Zane and Dave Dawson get another shot at the NCWA Tag team championship on the 8th, facing incumbent champions Daniel Messina and “Dangerous E” Corey Edsel. Messina and Edsel narrowly escaped with the belts the last time these two teams clashed, but the Dawson Brothers have to be considered the favorites here, especially when you factor in Corey Edsel’s back injury. Adam Page will battle Justin Flash in a battle of two of the region’s best high flyers.

Last but not least, new NCWA Heavyweight Champion Charlie Dreamer will defend his title against Joey Silvia, who defeated Ring of Honor superstar Caprice Coleman in his last NCWA bout.

In short, the Headlock on Autism wrestling event will be jam-packed with main event talent from the top of the card down. All of the proceeds from the event will go to the Autism Society of North Carolina. It’s a great cause.

I’d be lying, though, if I told you I wasn’t nervous.

Bobby O’Neil won his first match last week. Can he lead the Killbillies to a victory over the Dawson Brothers? Order the show today at rumble.cwf247.com

Jimi Love sits down one-on-one with Scott to discuss his match tomorrow night with Matt Houston for the Pure Pro Wrestling heavyweight title. They discuss the PPW Commissioner’s job, Jimi’s long layoff, and the remainder of the card, which includes a dog collar match between Ouga Booga and Scrapyard Dog. They also talk about Adam Page’s return to Pure Pro Wrestling and Jimmy Parker’s issues with PPW management. Jimi also opines on whether ring rust will factor in the match with the Manaconda.

Next, Scott brings in Bobby O’Neil, the manager of the Killbillies, to talk about the IPPV card for CWF Burlington. A thirty person rumble is scheduled as the main event, and the card is jam packed and a bargain at just $9.99. You can order the IPPV event here. Follow Bobby on twitter @Bobby_Oneil. You can also follow Killbillies Aric Andrews (@Whitearic) and Evan Banks (@ebanks63)

OK folks, Scott is off for the weekend. Next week we’ll return with Matt Houston and (I’m sure) a special guest to promoote AIWF Fright NIght and more.

Rob McBride (right) and Scott Eiland pose with the AIWF Mid Atlantic Championship belt. McBride defends the belt for the first time October 6 in Thomasville, the same town in which he won the belt six weeks ago.

Six weeks after a stellar showing at Thomasville High School’s Back to School Bash, the AIWF (Allied Independent Wrestling Federations) Mid Atlantic returns to Thomasville to a for a night of wrestling action featuring two of the most well-known grapplers in the region, both of whom hold regional championships. And BOTH men will be putting their titles on the line.

New AIWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight champion Rob McBride headlines tonight’s action, where he will defend the belt for the first time since defeating Scrapyard Dog in August. “The Boogiewoogieman,” as he is known to his legion of fans, will face the Pure Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Matt Houston, who won his belt by defeating Jason Blade in a disputed two-out-of-three falls match two weeks earlier in Providence, NC. The two men booked this match during McBride’s appearance on the “This Week In Wrestling” podcast, where the rivals’ escalating war of words ended in fisticuffs.

The two men are no strangers to one another; McBride’s long feud with Rick Deezel and the Old School Mafia has often included Houston. Last March, Houston hit McBride with an AIWF championship belt during McBride’s appearance on the Fox 8 Morning News. McBride often refers to Houston as “Chia Pet,” referring to Houston’s close-shaved crew cut hair. Their long careers in the independent ranks have often found the two of them on opposite sides of the ring; now that both men have gold, expect the feud to become even more heated.

In addition, former AIWF-Mid Atlantic champ Scrapyard Dog will face up-and-coming superstar Court Montgomery in a grudge match. Montgomery nearly defeated Houston twice in September for the Pure Pro Wrestling belt only to have Scrap’s interference ultimately cost him the title. After a particularly brutal two-on-one attack Sept 24 that left Montgomery unconscious, Court is determined to avenge the humiliation tonight in Thomasville.

Also scheduled to appear: AIWF World Champion Louis Moore, AIWF Mid Atlantic tag team champions Team Throwdown, former NWA legend “Mr. Number One” George South, EWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion Baron Bullard, local favorite son “Terrific Tony” Benge, and more. In addition, there will be a special guest appearance from former Jim Crockett Promotions broadcasting legend Rich Landrum!

This event will take place at Be A Sport Gym in Thomasville at 309 Etta Lane, directly behind Hasty Elementary School. The opening bell is at 730PM, with doors opening at 630pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.
